Preschool Maths Worksheets
Monday, November 1st, 2010What would Piaget and Vygotsky think about preschools that emphasize reading and math skills?
Some American parents believe that it is important to push their 2- and 3-year-olds to learn to recognize letters, sight-read words, and perform simple arithmetic problems. Some preschools emphasize reading and the completion of worksheets, and parents sometimes perceive such curricula as essential for their child’s admission to private elementary school. What do you think Piaget and/or Vygotsky would think about such programs, and why?
I think they would make a brainwash with the parents. If the kids wanna learn and the parents help them, that´s really ok, but if the parents demand that the kids learn what they can´t really understand, the kids are in a dangerous environment and you have to protect the kids against their own parents.
