How to do multi step equations?
48=11n+26

How do I solve this sort of math?

In an equation, in order to solve for the variable, you need to perform operations on the equation AS LONG AS you ALWAYS do the same thing to both sides. In other words, if I have an equation such as:
x + 7 = 21
I can subtract 7 to get x by itself, BUT I HAVE TO DO IT TO BOTH SIDES!!!!
So when I subtract 7 from both sides, I get: x + 7 – 7 = 21 – 7, which can them be simplified to x = 14.
Now for the original equation:
48 = 11n + 26
First subtract 26 from BOTH SIDES:
48 – 26 = 11n + 26 – 26
22 = 11n
However, I still have not solved for the variable. So now I will divide BOTH SIDES by 11:
22/11 = 11n/11
2 = n
So the answer is n = 2.
