Maths Year 3 Shape
College help should I give up?
Ok so I’m a senior in high school right now I live in florida and Im trying to get into a decent university nothing big like FSU or UF but anyways my freshman year and sophomore year I did really good I was at a 3.66 gpa weighted 3.3 unweighted but junior year I did horrible the worse I’ve ever done and my gpa dropped to a 3.4 weighted. I’m really concerned that this will ruin my chances of getting into any college but that’s not all I also have a problem with my sat scores you see I’m horrible at math so my math score is dragging down my otherwise good score I need at least a 480 right now and I’m a 100 points off you do the math please I need so kind of hope or help I’m working my butt off senior year and my grades are back in shape I’m also on the varsity track team NHS and I’ve been on yearbook for 3 years
I think you’ll do ok. 3.4 is still pretty good, no matter what other people say. I would try the ACT instead of the SAT, since math is less important. And SAT and ACT scores aren’t as important as your GPA, because colleges know that a lot of people have a hard time taking tests, and their test scores rarely reflect how they do in school; that’s what the GPA is for. When you apply to the college, explain to them that you’re not good at math. If you’re participating well in your math classes, and you keep trying to understand what the teacher is talking about, it would be a good idea to get a teacher recommendation from them. Those letters aren’t just about grades. A teacher can also use them to tell the colleges that you do good in the class, but not in the subject (you listen, you participate, you ask good questions, you show a little interest, etc.) It’s also a good idea to choose which SAT scores you want to send to colleges, so you can keep the bad ones to yourself. Never give up! There will always be several colleges that will accept you. And you can always go to a community college before going into a real college. It’s a good way to improve your GPA and get a taste of college before going to an actual college. Good luck!
