Maths Practice Papers Level 2

International student. SAT Score?

I’m an international student from the UK. I am hoping to study at USC starting in 2010, but I am applying to 4 other colleges as well. A lot of the colleges say they DON’T require international students from my country to have taken the SAT, they just require 5 GCSE’S and 2 A-Levels. I have these qualifications and more but I am going to take the SAT as good results will strongly affect their decision to accept/ reject me.

I just decided today to take the SAT. I have about 8 months to prepare. Without studying for it first, I bought some practice papers. I got 1500. I know that’s terrible, but with actually studying and 8 months of practice I think I can do quite well. I haven’t studied Maths or English in 2 years.

My question is, what is a terrible SAT score? What is an average score? What is good? And what is outstanding?

Thank you.
Just to be clear, I got a 1500 out of 2400 in my first practice test.

From the SAT Website:
Your score is made up of three SAT scores: one for math, one for writing, and one for verbal. These three SAT scores will be scaled, meaning they will be fit to a range that runs from a low of 200 to a perfect score of 800. An absolutely perfect SAT score would total 2400 (3 times 800). Of course, almost no one scores that high. The median score on any one section of the test is just over 500, making a score a bit above 1500 the median.
