Maths Gcse Courses
possible to apply for uni with a grade D gcse maths grade?
hi is it possible to apply for uni with a gcse grade D in maths, and if the course you want to apply for (e.g. media studies) does not ask or require for a gcse maths requiement.
What would happen at my college is that you would have to retake the Maths GCSE in your first year to get at least a C, then you would start your AS and A Level courses after that. Then, as you would have a pass, you’d be fine so it won’t be an issue.
If, on the other hand, the college will accept you onto AS & A Level courses with the D, then I would have thought you’d be okay, so long as you aren’t aiming for a science-based course (they tend to ask for a B in Maths).
You say you want to apply for media studies but there is a good chance this may change – if possible I would recommend resitting the Maths GCSE just so that if you ever need it, you won’t have to waste time resitting it then.
