Mathematics Internships

internship question, finance industry?

Many of the big financials offer summer internships as analysts for college students, they say they consider students from all majors, not only finance and economics. I as a mathematics major plan on applying next year for a spot; Do i have a chance to compete against the other students applying, probly majority 90%+ finance majors. i have an excellent GPA and the industry does actually hire quants with phds for asset modeling, but would they consider an internship ? because i dont believe employment out of college would be an option, unless they train onsite

do i have a shot? anyone been in this situation?

I think you have a good shot in getting it, since math is indirectly related to finance. To increase your chances, have a professor or educator write you a recommendation to go along with your application.

Good luck.
