using permutations.
Suppose 2 phy.books are bound in 1 single book, say P.
Similarly, 4 maths books in one book M and 3 chem.books in one book C.
These 3 volumes can be arranged in 3P3 = 3! ways.
Number of internal arrangements in P,M and C, are respectively 2!, 4! and 3! .
Hence, by Fundamental Theorem of Permutations, the total number of req’d arrangements is = 3! x 2! x 4! x 3! = 6 x 2 x 24 x 6 = 1728.
