How good are my PSAT scores?
at my school, we take them 8th-12th grade, and i’m in 8th. i got a 153 total. i got a 51 on critical reading, 42 on mathematics, and 60 on writing skills. yes, i know how to read the charts and all that, but i want personal experience/opinion from people. 
Hmm… when I took them in 8th grade, they were different, on the old scale, 1600 (real SAT score, 160 on the PSAT) was the best. Essentially, I have no real comparison, since it has changed so much. But, I will tell you this… I got just over 1000 (100 PSAT) the year I took it in 8th grade, and I just got a 226 on the PSAT (2260 SAT) I took just now, and a 2200 (220 PSAT) on the real test I took before it. So yes, if you take just the old two parts, reading and math, and add them together, you get a 93. That’s ok overall, and really good for an 8th grader. In 8th grade it’s just a fact you don’t know all the math on the SAT. Only this time around did I fully understand all the math on it, and I’m way older than you. Expect your scores to go up considerably there. Also expect your writing to go up a *lot*, though it’s really good right now. Reading can always be improved, in my view, but that was also one of my weakest sections.
Overall, your score is good. If the statistics are still the same, it beats a good portion of college-bound Seniors. Expect it to go up a lot. By 11th grade, I bet you would have a PSAT score of around… at least 200. Which is excellent.
